Higher food bills, energy bills and the cost of activities can all mean that school holidays are an expensive time for parents, but one mum has told CashLady how she keeps costs down.

She said: “It’s great to have the kids off school during the February half term, but it can quickly dawn on you how much it can impact your finances.

“Not only do the children need more entertainment and food than usual, but now that energy prices have increased, it can easily be a really expensive week.

“With a combination of preparation and creativity, there are a number of ways that you can keep costs down over half term.”
